The President's Corner: Yom Kippur Remarks by Cindy Shulman, President CBSW

Thank you, Rabbi Goldberg, Cantor Schwartz, Chip, and Chris for a lovely service. It is wonderful to see our congregation here together and welcome to those who are streaming.

During Rosh Hashanah, we spoke about CBSW marking its 40th anniversary.  It is truly touching to be able to honor our past presidents and founding families tonight.  I appreciate and thank you, for your care, attention, and devotion.  You are all an inspiration.

When our Torah Scrolls are carried among us it holds special meaning to each and every one of us. It is a truly spiritual feeling.

As a reminder – on Sunday, October 23rd, the entire congregation, including families with kids, are invited to celebrate our sacred Torah scrolls, with a visit from a Sofer to restore our Holocaust Torah, letter by letter.

  • While our Torah scroll survived the Holocaust, its Czech community did not
  • It is our responsibility to take care of all three of our scrolls so that the Torah continues to live and thrive, and
  • By protecting the Torah, we help keep alive the spirit of communities long since destroyed

By taking part in our Torah restoration campaign, you preserve our heritage and connect us to the worldwide Jewish community.

As Rabbi Goldberg has said, “For four thousand years the Torah has taken care of the Jewish people.  It is now our time to take care of the Torah.”  Please sign up to take part in this remarkable occasion.

On behalf of Michael and I and your Board of Trustees, we wish you a good holy day and an easy fast. May you be inscribed in the book of life.
