Creating a Jewish Community at CBSW

Congregation Beth Shalom of The Woodlands is a small, but active congregation. We believe that every member matters and can make a difference! Our synagogue is led by volunteers and professionals who care deeply about working together to build and sustain a meaningful community.

Our members lead social organizations and clubs, we well as committees focused on temple needs and priorities. At CBSW, it's easy to quickly find yourself immersed in temple life. Here are some of the ways you can get involved and meet others right now:

  • Join our Men's Club or Havurat Nashim (Sisterhood) organizations. These groups are very active and offer a number of activities both "on and off" our campus.
  • We have an active singles group for those who may be single, divorced or widowed.
  • "Moadon Evenings," one of our newer (post-COVID) social activities, brings members together monthly to catch up, nosh on great snacks and refreshments.
  • If you love volunteering, we have a Social Action Committee that is actively supporting community needs in Montgomery County.
  • We all need support from others at times, and one of our newer offerings—the Chesed Committee—is solely focused on helping congregants with life cycle events and in times of need.
  • We also have several standing committees that can always use new members. Our congregation is largely volunteer-led, so our committees play a crucial role. Committees range from Art & Architecture to Communications to Security to Youth Education and much more.

Our social clubs and committees welcome your interest and involvement. If you have a passion for something (or an activity you enjoy) that isn't covered by an existing club or committee, we'll help you start a new one!
