Celebrating Shavuot

Three years in as your rabbi, I am still enjoying some experiences in person with you for the first time. For instance, this Saturday night, June 4, will be the first in-person-gathering for the holiday of Shavuot. We will meet from 8-9:30 pm in the Moadon (Social Hall Building) for an informal study of the holiday and some delicious desserts. It is one of my favorite holiday activities of the year and I hope it will become one of yours as well.

The next morning, at 10:00 am, we will gather in the Sanctuary for a festival morning Service, a little Torah study, and some light snacks. Shavuot is when we celebrate the beginning of summer, the giving of Torah to the Jewish people, and remember our loved ones who have passed away.

Speaking of summer, here are some Saturday morning worship program notes for June. You will see that some schedule/program changes are coming.

  • June 4: Shabbat Morning Torah study at Temple at 8:30 a.m. followed by Shabbat Morning service/Bar Mitzvah of Eitan Matas at 10:00 a.m.
  • June 11: Shabbat Morning Torah Study at 8:30 a.m. followed by Shabbat Morning Minyan at 9:20 a.m.
  • June 18: Shabbat Morning Minyan and Torah study at Temple at 9:00 a.m.
  • June 25: Shabbat Morning Torah Study at 8:30 a.m. followed by Shabbat Morning Minyan at 9:20 a.m.
